Labour's Ed Miliband on Syria vote: 'We are learning lessons from Iraq'
Labour leader Ed Miliband has said that ''Britain is learning the lessons of our past, including the lessons of Iraq,'' after the government suffered a surprise defeat in the House of Commons.
MPs voted by a margin of 13 votes to reject a motion asking for their agreement, in principle, to join an armed response to a suspected chemical weapons attack by President Assad's forces last week.
After the vote, the prime minister said he had got the message and would act accordingly.
Speaking to the BBC's Nick Robinson, Mr Miliband said the Commons had spoken for the British people.
