Labour: 'Bedroom tax proving a disaster'

Labour's spokesman on Work and Pensions Liam Byrne says the government's spare room subsidy is proving a disaster.

His comments come as research from the TUC claims nearly a third of households affected by the recent changes to housing benefit have fallen behind with their rent.

The Department of Work and Pensions says it is wrong to suggest the early stages of the policy represent long-term trends.
