Labour leader Ed Miliband defends energy price pledge

Labour has dismissed suggestions that its pledge to freeze energy prices could lead to power cuts, saying that energy companies are ''unreliable witnesses.''

Party leader Ed Miliband has promised to cap prices for 20 months if he wins the next election.

Speaking in Brighton, where his party is holding its annual conference, he accused energy companies of overcharging people.

''I'm determined that we call time on it, because we've got to tackle the cost of living crisis that we face in this country,'' he said.
