Ed Miliband: Energy market needs to be reset

Labour would freeze gas and electricity bills for every home and business in the UK for 20 months if it wins the 2015 election, Ed Miliband has said.

Speaking to the Today programme, Mr Miliband said: "The market isn't functioning properly. Somebody has to reset the market, and that's what we're determined to do.

"We'll make sure this freeze works for consumers and if we have to take action to make sure that happens, we absolutely will."

He added: "Labour is going to be incredibly tough when it comes to public spending in the next parliament."
