Energy UK reacts to Labour's utility bills freeze plan

Power companies make an average of £1 per week from each household, which was lower than the profits of supermarkets, said the chief executive of the organisation that represents energy companies.

Energy UK's Angela Knight said the market was not bust, but said: "Let's make it work better, not pretend it is broken."

She was speaking about Labour's plans to freeze power bills for the first two years if it was to take over, and the investments put in by the energy companies.

And she added: "Trust that has been lost needs to be rebuilt."
