Tory conference: McLoughlin attacks HS2 rail 'moaning'
The transport secretary said he was tired of the "moaning London commentators" going on about the HS2 high speed rail project.
Patrick McLoughlin, who represents an East Midlands seat, said they liked money being spent on London's Crossrail project, but could not understand why the rest of the country needed "a great transport system too".
He told the Conservative conference: "I hear the critics, boy do I hear the critics. But the truth is we need a new north-south line to make our country stronger."
