Danny Alexander: 'We will stick to HS2 budget'

The Chief Secretary to the Treasury has defended the government's decision to press ahead with the controversial HS2 high speed rail development.

Speaking on The Andrew Marr Show, Danny Alexander said that HS2 is "something which can transform the economic geography of the country".

The Labour party has expressed concern over the mounting costs of HS2, but Mr Alexander said that the coalition "will stick to the HS2 budget that has been set."
