Infrastructure spend will be in 'every part of country'

The £375bn to be spent on infrastructure over the next 20 years will be spread across the country, with almost 300 projects already in progress, Danny Alexander has said.

Previous infrastructure spending programmes have been criticised for slow progress.

The Chief Secretary to the Treasury admitted to the BBC that "over many decades we have underinvested in our infrastructure."

But he denied there was a north-south divide in how spending was being allocated, saying there were "projects going on in every part of the country."
