Migration Watch UK: 'No sudden rush' predicted
Migration Watch UK has estimated that around 50,000 Romanians and Bulgarians are likely to come to Britain now that border controls have been lifted.
Sir Andrew Green, the organisation's chairman, explained to Today's Sarah Montague that he is "not expecting a sudden rush" of migrants, but a steady flow coming into the country.
He added that while it is true "there are nearly a million, mainly Romanians [but also Bulgarians], in Spain and Italy", these people would be "better off financially" were they to live in Britain.
Mr Green noted that this was particularly true for families, who could benefit up to six times as much in Britain.
