'Martin' Smith tells Paddy Ashdown: My name's Norman

The BBC News channel's chief political correspondent waited until the end of a live interview to tell Paddy Ashdown that he had been calling him by the wrong name.

The former Liberal Democrat leader had used the name "Martin" for Norman Smith several times, as they looked at the party's problems over the Lord Rennard allegations.

But as he handed back to the studio, the BBC correspondent said: "No offence, my name's Norman".
