Alzheimer's and dementia: Fiona Phillips and Christian Guy

The UK is 30 years behind other nations on dementia research due to a lack of funding, said Fiona Phillips who is an Alzheimer's Society ambassador.

The broadcaster, whose parents both had the disease, debated with Christian Guy, from the Centre for Social Justice think tank, founded by Iain Duncan Smith, about the cost of caring for people with dementia, and selling homes to pay for care.

They first watched a clip of David Cameron speaking at a G8 conference. where he said dementia "steals lives, wrecks families and breaks hearts".
