Lord Ashdown: Lib Dems must 'stop plotting' against Clegg

Former leader of the Liberal Democrats, Paddy Ashdown, has said there was a "plot of deep malice" against Nick Clegg in the wake of poor results in the recent local and European elections.

Lord Ashdown told the BBC that those seeking to oust Mr Clegg had made "a bad situation worse" and that the party should be focusing on campaigning for the 2015 general election.

Speaking to The Andrew Marr Show, he said his party would continue to campaign positively for the UK's membership of the European Union - and suggested it was unlikely the Lib Dems would support tougher measures against EU migration being considered by the Home Secretary.
