Labour has accused the Home Secretary Theresa May of breaking the Ministerial Code, over her row with a cabinet colleague.
Education Secretary Michael Gove has apologised to the prime minister over the briefing war with the home secretary's department.
The two had clashed over ways to tackle extremism after reports of a hardline Muslim plot in some Birmingham schools.
Ms May is now facing Labour calls for a public apology over her part in the row.
