Yvette Cooper criticises Theresa May over passport delays
The shadow home secretary has called on Theresa May to apologise over the backlog of passport applications.
Yvette Cooper was speaking in the Commons after the home secretary announced a series of measures intended to address the severe pressure the passport service is under.
At least 30,000 applications have been affected by delays.
Ms Cooper called the Home Office's handling of the matter a "sorry shambles from a sorry department" and accused Mrs May of not being across the situation.
