Ed Miliband calls for public PMQs for voters to quiz prime minister

Voters should be involved in a public version of Prime Minister's Questions "to let the public into our politics", Ed Miliband has said.

The Labour leader told Andrew Marr it would not "just be cheerleading Labour supporters" involved, but would be one way of changing the political culture.

He said he was preparing a proposal for Speaker John Bercow which he claimed would bridge the "miles-wide gap" between the politics the public wants and what it actually gets from the weekly sessions.
