UKIP's Suzanne Evans: 2015 general election prediction

UKIP will win "at least eight MPs" at the next general election, the party's deputy chairman has predicted.

Suzanne Evans said she was going out on a limb and the party will have "far more than two" MPs in 2015, after gaining "two, if not three" of the upcoming by-elections.

The candidate standing in a Shropshire seat next year, added: "This old rubbish about 'vote UKIP, get Labour' is just not going to wash any more."

Two by-elections are being held next Thursday - in Clacton, Essex, and Heywood and Middleton, Great Manchester - and a date to be announced later for the Rochester and Strood seat in Kent.
