EU migrant curbs should be 'temporary' says Major
The former Conservative Prime Minister Sir John Major has suggested any restrictions on EU migration to the UK may only have to be for the "short term".
Speaking to the BBC's Andrew Marr programme, he also said the UK would face a "lesser future" if it chose to leave the European Union.
Prime Minister David Cameron is considering a number of options, including seeking an "emergency brake" on the number of new arrivals.
He is expected to set out his strategy before Christmas.
