UKIP: EU migrants should remain in UK for 'transitional period'
UKIP defector Mark Reckless has suggested that existing EU migrants should only be allowed to remain in the UK for "a transitional period."
In a debate with ITV Meridian, he was asked what would happen to migrants if the UK left the European Union.
He replied: "I think in the near term we'd have to have a transitional period, and I think we should probably allow people who are currently here to have a work permit at least for a fixed period,"
