Farage on Rochester victory: If you vote UKIP you get UKIP

The UK Independence Party has secured its second directly-elected MP winning the Rochester and Strood by-election in Kent.

The Conservatives were pushed into second place whilst support for Labour and the Liberal Democrats plunged.

Mark Reckless, who defected from the Tories in September, won the seat with a majority of just under 3,000.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage told BBC Breakfast the result sent a simple message: "If you vote UKIP you get UKIP."
