Autumn Statement 2014: Christmas present spending
The chancellor is expected to use Wednesday's Autumn Statement to claim the UK economy is growing at its fastest pace since 2006, ahead of expectations.
But his political opponents say that increase is not being felt by ordinary people.
Adam Fleming took the Daily Politics mood box to the German Christmas market on London's South Bank.
He asked shoppers whether they were spending more, or less, this festive season as a gauge for what they thought about the state of the economy.
