Autumn Statement: Osborne's Wallace and Gromit joke at Ed Miliband

The Chancellor, George Osborne, took a short detour while delivering his Autumn Statement to make a joke at the expense of the leader of the opposition.

Explaining details of a tax credit for children's television and animation production, he likened Ed Miliband to the plasticine star of films such as the Wrong Trousers and Grand Day Out.

"The man behind Wallace's voice has retired. But after next May I am sure the whole House will unite behind a suitable and, by then, available candidate," Mr Osborne said.
