Alex Salmond declares candidacy for Gordon constituency at Westminster
Former SNP leader Alex Salmond has confirmed he is to seek election to a seat at Westminster in next May's General Election.
Mr Salmond, who resigned as party leader and First Minister of Scotland after the "Yes" campaign was defeated in September's independence referendum, will stand in the Gordon constituency.
He told a meeting of supporters and media in Ellon that "with so much at stake for Scotland....it's impossible to stand on the sidelines."
