Would online voting encourage young people?

Only 44% of 18- to 24-year-olds voted at the 2010 general election.

But, in the 2014 Scottish referendum, 16- and 17-year-olds proved they would engage if they were given the vote - one poll reported a 75% turnout in this age group.

Broadcaster Rick Edwards gives the BBC's Newsnight his proposals on how to persuade young people to get involved in politics.

They include allowing them to vote online, introducing compulsory voting and implementing a "none of the above" box so young people have a legitimate way of expressing their dissatisfaction with politics.
