'We want our railway and Royal Mail in public ownership'

Labour leadership contender Jeremy Corbyn has said that the party could restore its commitment to public investment in areas such as rail, either "restoring the Clause IV" or using a different one.

Mr Corbyn also said his campaign would look at the energy industry, including subsidies given to the "big six" energy companies, and was also proposing the creation of a national investment bank.

Tony Blair's move to ditch the commitment in Labour's constitution to public ownership was seen by some as a symbolic step which made the party more electable in the post-Thatcher era.
