Labour conference: MacDonnell on Bank of England review

Labour will review the mandate of the Bank of England - but guarantees its independence, said John McDonnell.

The shadow chancellor said it was time to "open a debate on the Bank's mandate", as it regularly failed to meet its inflation target, and that would be extended to include growth, employment and earnings.

He also outlined plans for HM Revenue and Customs to more aggressively deal with tax evasion and avoidance under a future Labour government.
