Denis Healey death: 'A giant of a man' - Peter Hain
Peter Hain has paid tribute to the former Labour chancellor Denis Healey, who has died at the age of 98, describing him as "a giant of a man".
"On the one hand he could play the fool. But you knew he was the very opposite of a fool", Mr Hain told the BBC.
Lord Healey served as an MP for Leeds for 40 years and was chancellor of the exchequer from 1974 to 1979, before becoming deputy Labour leader in opposition in 1980.
His family said he died peacefully at his home in Sussex on Saturday morning, after a short illness.
