EU referendum: Lord Rose urges 'pragmatism not patriotism'

The UK's decision to remain part of the EU should be based on "pragmatism", not patriotism, the former M&S boss Lord Rose has said.

He made the comments as he launched the campaign for the UK to remain a member of the European Union.

"We are not saying we would not survive [outside] the EU but I'm asking the very real question 'would we thrive?'", he said.

The EU referendum is due to be held before the end of 2017.
