Michael Fallon says extra £12bn to be spent on defence

Defence Secretary Michael Fallon has said that he is "fortunate" that the Ministry of Defence budget is increasing - at a time when many other government departments are facing cuts.

Prime Minister David Cameron is set to outline the Strategic Defence and Security Review in the Commons.

Mr Fallon explained on BBC Breakfast that the government had "found an extra £12bn to spend on top of current plans," adding that would mean "more ships, more planes, more troops at readiness".
