Diane Abbott on Jeremy Corbyn's opposition to airstrikes in Syria

Labour MP Diane Abbott has defended her party leader over his opposition to airstrikes in Syria. The shadow secretary of state for international development said that despite not being in agreement with all of his MPs, his view was representative of Labour supporters.

Jeremy Corbyn is facing the threat of resignations from his shadow cabinet after writing a letter to all Labour MPs, saying he does not believe David Cameron has made the case for extending RAF strikes against the Islamic State group.

The Shadow foreign secretary Hilary Benn has said that he found the case for strikes "compelling".
