Diane Abbott on Corbyn and Labour leadership campaign

The 2016 Labour leadership campaign saw more "very hurtful and unpleasant allegations " and was nastier than the vote 12 months ago, said Diane Abbott.

The shadow health secretary told BBC assistant political editor Norman Smith that "no-one close to Jeremy is talking about deselections and purges".

She appealed for the party to come together, and said there was no wish for a "purge" after Mr Corbyn was re-elected with nearly 62% of the vote.
