Boris Johnson says UK should follow Thatcher precedent

Britain has an "illustrious precedent" and should reject any Brexit bill demands from the EU, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has said.

He told BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg the precedent had been set by former prime minister Margaret Thatcher at the summit in 1984, when she did not just ask for her money back, she threatened to walk out.

"It is not reasonable for the UK, having left the EU, to continue to make vast budget payments," he said.
