Is it time for the UK to rethink identity cards?

Peers in the House of Lords suggest to Home Office minister Baroness Williams of Trafford that the government should have a rethink on identity cards in the wake of the vote to leave the European Union.

The previous Labour government's ID card plan was scrapped after the Conservative-Lib Dem coalition came to power in 2010, and it was put to the minister that there had been a change of mood on the issue.
