‘They found a hidden wall, and behind it the paintings’

Two paintings stolen from the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam in 2002 will be on display once again. They were found last September in a mafia don's basement during a raid by police in Italy.

Congregation Leaving the Reformed Church in Nuenen and View of the Sea at Scheveningen are two early Van Gogh works and of huge historical importance.

Willem Nijerk, a public prosecutor in Amsterdam told Today they found the paintings behind a hidden wall. Bernadette Murphy is a historian and the author of Van Gogh's ear. She explains their importance.
