No punishment over Brexit, says Irish foreign minister

Irish Foreign Minister Charlie Flanagan said the EU was not intent on punishing the UK over Brexit.

Speaking to BBC Newsnight, Mr Flanagan said Ireland and Britain had “a positive and constructive relationship”.

But the foreign minister also argued that an EU member such as the Irish Republic could not “be placed in a position of more disadvantage” than a country leaving the bloc.
