LGBT veterans: On behalf of the British state I apologise
Rishi Sunak has said the ban on LGBT members of the armed forces serving until the year 2000 was "an appalling failure of the British state".
The prime minister spoke about how many veterans endured sexual abuse and homophobic bulling and apologised, saying he would have further meetings about the issue.
