I became aware of Covid via Manchester Chinese community - Burnham

Andy Burnham said Manchester has a twinning arrangement with Wuhan, which was the epicentre of the Covid pandemic.

He told the Covid inquiry he leaned about coronavirus from the media and the Chinese community in Manchester.

The mayor of Greater Manchester realised “just how serious it was” via community meetings in January and February 2020 when people were in a “very high state of alarm” and asking him for help.
