Sir Keir Starmer says Rishi Sunak was originally against Rwanda plan
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said documents from 2022 showed prime minister Rishi Sunak wanted to scale back plans to send asylum seekers to Africa.
Mr Sunak says neither Sir Keir had seen the documents in question and that “an effective deterrence” was needed to solve the boats arriving in the UK. The comments were allegedly made while Boris Johnson was prime minister.
Sir Keir added he did not believe in a controlling migration and that the Labour leader picked the “people smugglers over the British people”.
