Tory MP's populism warning over Truss's new group
Tory MP Tobias Ellwood was not impressed with the launch of the Popular Conservativism campaign, where former PM Liz Truss is a leading figure.
A day after she launched the campaign, the former Foreign Office under secretary of state claimed his party did not need another faction.
Mr Ellwood told BBC Politics Live that months ahead of a general election, MPs should be getting behind their leader, while populism “builds on fear” and used soundbites.
