Elmar Brok: Duncan Smith 'wrong' over EU renegotiations
Germany did not have a de facto veto over David Cameron's EU renegotiations, a senior member of Angela Merkel's party has said.
Iain Duncan Smith had claimed Germany forced David Cameron to drop a demand for a brake on EU migration to the UK - less than 24 hours before he was due to unveil the idea in a speech.
Elmar Brok, a member of the CDU party in Germany, who was involved in the renegotiations between the European Parliament and Mr Cameron.
He told the World at One's Martha Kearney that Mr Duncan Smith was "lying to his people".
