NUS President in Scotland: Fee rise 'forced on the Scottish government'

Students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland who go to university in Scotland could face annual fees of up to £6,000, the BBC has learned.

The plan is believed to be in a Scottish government Green Paper on education funding for the future.

Home and EU students currently pay nothing at Scotland's universities, while other UK students pay just under £2,000 a year.

NUS President in Scotland, Liam Burns, blamed MPs in Westminster for voting to increase fees in England.
