Plan to cut red tape for outdoor activities

Experts have warned lives could be put at risk if the UK government goes ahead with plans to loosen the red tape surrounding outdoor activities.

The proposal is to scrap the organisation which regulates and licenses outdoor centres and replace it with a code of practice.

The UK government has said it would make it cheaper and easier.

Teaching unions and industry experts in Scotland have said a voluntary code of practice is not good enough.
