Fisherman's Victoria Cross to be sold at auction

Joseph Watt is the only Scottish fisherman to be awarded the Victoria Cross for bravery in the face of enemy action.

Nearly 70 years after his death, the medal is to be auctioned in London.

Mr Watt was commanding a fishing boat undertaking mine sweeping operations in the Adriatic Sea during World War One when it was engaged by an enemy cruiser. He refused to surrender, despite being outgunned.
