Scottish whisky industry puts export hope in new market
The recent rapid growth of Scotch whisky exports has stalled, according to figures for 2012.
The volume of Scotch exported in 2012 fell by 5%. With one bottle of Scotch whisky in every 14 being consumed in the UK, the annual export figures are seen as the best guide to the state of an industry which represents a quarter of Scotland's total overseas sales.
Campbell Evans, of the Scotch Whisky Association, has said some important markets were continuing to grow.
