Funding sought to preserve the Flow Country's peat bog

Ambitious plans to restore vast tracts of peat bog in the Flow Country of Caithness and Sutherland are being finalised.

RSPB Scotland has said it hopes to win millions of pounds in lottery funding to pay for the removal of commercial forestry plantations.

The project will cost an estimated £9m and take five years to complete.
