First Scots-built satellite is ready for space
A date has been set for the launch of the first satellite to be built in Scotland.
UKube-1 has been designed and built by Glasgow company Clyde Space, a market leader in small satellites.
The satellite, the UK Space Agency's first CubeSat mission, will begin its journey to Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at the end of October.
It will be launched into space aboard a Russian Soyuz-2 rocket in February 2014.
BBC Scotland's science correspondent Kenneth Macdonald reports.
