Peterhead prison: Final chapter of a Victorian fortress

Peterhead prison will close on 6 December, to be replaced by a new super-jail, HMP Grampian.

Built in 1888 as Scotland's first convict prison, Peterhead has had a turbulent history and was even referred to as "Scotland's gulag".

The prison was the scene of a riot in October 1987, with the SAS being called in to end the siege.

BBC News Scotland's Fiona Stalker has been looking into the history of the sometimes controversial jail.
