Canal college restores a 200-year-old waterway

A group of unemployed young people have returned to a school of a different kind.

The curriculum at Canal College, external involves excavating a disused 200-year-old canal lock, which was once part of the busy waterways between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The project, run by Scottish Waterways and the Scottish Canals Trust, has been bringing the lock back to life as a heritage attraction next to the Falkirk Wheel.

As BBC Scotland's Joanne Macaulay reports the experience has also improved the volunteers' job chances.
