Same-sex weddings could be approved in Scotland

The first same-sex weddings could take place in Scotland in the autumn if the Scottish Parliament approves a change in the law.

MSPs will vote on plans to allow gay and lesbian couples to marry.

Critics have voiced fears the legislation could have unintended consequences and some MSPs are trying to amend the legislation to bolster the rights of those who believe only men and women should marry.
