Scottish independence: Salmond challenges Cameron to debate

First Minister Alex Salmond has again called for a debate with the UK prime minister to discuss the referendum on Scottish independence.

David Cameron had earlier called for people in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to encourage Scotland to remain part of the UK.

First Minister Alex Salmond told BBC Scotland: "I want that debate, it's the right thing to have.

"If David Cameron's not prepared to have it a lot of folk in Scotland are going to say: 'What is he frightened of?'"
