Scottish independence: New York Tartan Week kicks off

Tartan Week in New York has begun with pipe bands and kilts the order of the day.

First Minister Alex Salmond is there to promote Scotland.

But as BBC Scotland's Jim Naughtie has been finding out, there has been little talk of the referendum on the streets of the Big Apple.
